This tile FAQ covers the most frequently asked questions from customers and provides in-depth answers to your enquiries

What's the difference between porcelain and ceramic tiles?

Porcelain undergoes an extra procedure that grinds the clay down to a very fine powder. When clay is crushed, it becomes incredibly dense and absorbs relatively little moisture, making it excellent for use outdoors.

It is now possible to use tile on a wide variety of surfaces thanks to contemporary adhesive technologies. It all comes down to proper preparation and the use of the right adhesive.

The short answer is no. Wall tiles are not meant to be used on the floor, and should not be. Many tiles today are multi-purpose and can be utilised for both floors and walls. Just make sure they can be used on the floor before moving on to a wall.

The use of underfloor heating should not limit your choice of  floor tiles. Textured floor tiles, like all floor tiles, will provide extra grip, particularly if the floor is likely to become wet.

Ceramic and porcelain tiles are equally excellent for use in residential settings. Where allowed, ceramic tiles can be used in low-traffic areas.

Porcelain tiles are thicker and last longer than ceramic tiles, making them great for places with a lot of foot traffic.
